Tink’s second largest office, behind our HQ in Stockholm, is now our thriving workplace in Warsaw. Having recently launched our payments service in Poland, further expanding our presence there beyond what was initially an engineering hub, we spoke to members of the team to find out why they’re excited for open banking opportunities in Poland and the wider CEE region.

TL;DR – Quick summary
  • Tink’s Polish team in Warsaw has expanded from a small engineering group to a thriving workplace with almost 150 staff, making it our second-largest office.

  • We recently went live with our open banking-powered payments service in Poland, and we will continue to introduce our whole suite of products to the region.

  • Tink has also joined the Fintech Poland group, which plays a key part in the development of the local industry ecosystem.

Tink’s Polish office opened in 2019 with a handful of employees. The goal was to build core engineering teams to help lay the foundations that the future of Europe’s financial services are being built on. Now in 2023, Tink has more than 140 employees at our central Warsaw base, confirming that we are one of the key open banking players in the CEE area.

Tink also recently went live with its payments solution in Poland, with a mission to take open banking-powered payments to the market and put Pay by Bank at the top of the checkout. Our sales and commercial functions continue to grow in Warsaw, enabling us to conduct more business and gradually introduce our whole suite of products to the region, such as Money Manager, Data Enrichment, and Risk Insight.

Expanding our commercial presence

One of those making Tink’s voice heard is Kamil Szymanski, who joined Tink to lead the business development team with a mission to help to put open banking at the heart of the local financial ecosystem. Prior to joining Tink, Kamil spent over 15 years working for financial institutions including mBank, Citibank London and Lloyds Banking Group.

Kamil and the team recently announced that Tink had joined Fintech Poland, which plays a key part in the development of the local industry ecosystem.

“We are seeing the mass adoption of open banking-powered services across Europe where Tink is already working with some of the largest financial companies,” said Kamil. “Many Polish and other regional financial institutions are very innovative and technologically advanced. We are in a great position to help them to make their businesses even more competitive, and significantly improve client experience for millions of local consumers.”

Kacper Reutt, our Engineering Director in Warsaw, and one of the first Tink employees in Poland, has seen first hand the rapid growth in the local market: “It has been a rewarding journey. From setting up the first Tink office in Poland, growing our engineering arm and now going live with our payments services in the market. Tink’s expansion into Poland is another step towards achieving our goal of being the backbone of open banking across Europe.”

A thriving team

Software Engineer Malgorzata Kosecka, who joined Tink in Poland in 2020, said: “It’s brilliant to see that every year we are welcoming more and more people to our Polish office. When I joined there were around 20 people here, mostly software engineers, but right now we have almost 150 people. Even though engineering is still the biggest team, we have also added colleagues in departments such as Testing, DevOps, HR, and Sales.

“One thing I’m particularly happy to have seen recently is the increased diversity among both senior and junior positions with the introduction of an internship program, which means we can hire more bright students but also others looking to change career paths.”

As a company, we’re truly excited by the prospect of being at the forefront of bringing open banking solutions to the CEE region. The growth of our team in Warsaw is testament to that and we look forward to engaging with many more businesses and institutions in the region.
