Placons – a personal financial butler

Personal finance management (PFM) app placons wanted to rethink what a bank could do for its customers. They imagined how much better life would be if personal finances made sense, were controlled by the customer, and if they had a personalised journey that offered exclusive deals and smart ideas every day to match their lifestyle and help them make more sustainable decisions.

TL;DR – Quick summary
  • placons is a German personal finance management (PFM) app

  • placons’ goal is to help their users lead a more financially sustainable lifestyle

  • Integrating with Tink’s Money Manager tool helps placons give their users a truly personalised experience

Now backed by Degussa Bank, placons has launched its PFM app in Germany. Powered by a partnership with Tink, placons will add open banking technology to help users better manage their money, by understanding their financial behaviour and helping to improve it. Already live in Germany, placons will build on the Tink platform to expand their offering across Europe.

Making people's everyday life easier

According to placons, a personal financial butler means observing what people do daily and making personalised suggestions that can help improve their finances. And this is where Tink’s tech comes in. Tink's Money Manager uses real-time data to give users insights into their financial behaviour, and to help them set meaningful goals and budgets. As a result of integrating Tink's account aggregation technology into placons, users will be able to see all their bank accounts and transactions in one place, giving them a 360° view of their finances.

With the full view of users’ finances and the ability to combine enriched transactional data and actionable insights from Tink, placons can help consumers make more sustainable, long-term decisions – with a personalised touch. As a personal finance butler, placons can identify the services and products that might better suit the user’s needs, and then help them switch in just a few clicks.

The growing possibilities

In Germany, placons is experiencing notable growth thanks to their customer-centric and truly personalised approach to financial services. The next step is to expand the company's services and expand its markets – and placons’ partnership with Tink gives them that opportunity. Stefan Zoerner, Managing Director at placons says, “When searching for the right technology partner, it was essential that we could grow with them over time. With Tink, there are many product features that we can use straight out-of-the-box, with the ability to scale across new European markets at speed.”
