Since its launch in 2013, Lydia has firmly cemented itself as the financial app of choice in France – with almost 5 million users. Tink and Lydia first announced their open banking partnership in October 2020, to enhance Lydia’s connectivity across Europe and add new services. Tink’s account aggregation (AIS) and payment initiation services (PIS) were integrated into the Lydia app, improving the way users could connect to their accounts across multiple banks, manage payment beneficiaries and initiate bank transfers without leaving the app.

Following a €135 million investment round, Lydia plans to launch into four European markets outside of France during 2021. Now, through Lydia’s partnership with Tink, the payments app is seamlessly expanding its services to users in Portugal, with three more markets to follow.

A new multi-banking payments app for Portugal

Lydia’s users in Portugal can now access their current and savings accounts with different banks in one place, alongside the ability to make contactless payments from a mobile phone, complete online purchases, make transfers between friends and even create shared bank accounts. The multi-banking feature also makes it easier to transfer money between a user's bank accounts – by simply dragging the desired amount from one account to another in the app, instead of making a traditional bank transfer.

By using open banking technology to give people access to all of their financial transactions in a single app, Lydia helps its users have greater awareness of their earnings and expenses, and get a better overview of how to increase their savings. Lydia makes the management of day-to-day finances and easier and more intuitive, providing its users with simplicity and the best possible user experience.
